
In a significant development aimed at enhancing digital literacy and skills in Botswana, the Botswana Institute of Banking & Finance (BIBF) and the ICDL Africa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, signed on July 8th, 2024, outlines collaborative efforts to promote digital competence among professionals in the country.
The event featuring a press conference and an MoU signing session, was held at the BIBF Offices in CBD Gaborone. Key representatives from both organizations and members of the media were in attendance. This partnership marks a strategic initiative by BIBF to integrate internationally recognized digital skills certification programs into its curriculum and professional development initiatives.
Under the terms of the MoU, BIBF will incorporate ICDL certification courses into its training programs, offering students and professionals an opportunity to acquire essential digital skills required in today’s workforce. The collaboration aims to bridge the digital divide and equip Botswana’s workforce with the knowledge and competencies necessary to thrive in a digital economy.
In his remarks, Mr Molaodi Menyatso, Acting Managing Director of BIBF, emphasized the importance of digital literacy in the modern age and expressed confidence that the partnership with ICDL will empower learners and enhance their employability prospects.
Similarly, Mr Damien O’Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer (Global) of ICDL Foundation, highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to promoting digital skills globally and affirmed their readiness to support BIBF in achieving its educational objectives.
The signing of the MoU signals a new chapter in Botswana’s educational landscape, paving the way for a digitally proficient workforce capable of meeting the challenges of the future. Both organizations look forward to a fruitful collaboration that will contribute to the socio-economic development of Botswana through enhanced digital education.
